The 2021 cohort of students gathered together for the assembly which started with a welcome to country, school prayer and the National Anthem.
It has been eight months since school principal Keith Willett started in his position, but he has been unable to hold an assembly due to coronavirus restrictions.
Mr Willett said the welcome-to-school assembly was a perfect way to start the year.
“It was exciting, fun and a poignant reminder of how important gathering as a community is for schools,” he said.
He said it was rewarding to see teachers and students interacting face-to-face once again.
“The start of a new year is always very special as we welcome new students and their families to our school,” he said.
The assembly included the announcement of the school and house leaders who will represent the student body.
“In a Foundation to Year 12 school setting, the younger students are always looking to the older students to be good role models,” Mr Willett said.
Mr Willet underlined the goals for the new school year following COVID-19 restriction disruptions in 2020.
“We aim to reconnect our entire school community and ensure our families and students understand the direction for our school in years to come,” he said.
New teachers welcomed to the school at the assembly included leader of junior school teaching and learning Hayley Rathbone, junior school classroom teacher Fiona Clark, senior school maths, science and technology teacher Anthony McConnell, junior school classroom teacher Rebecca Kennedy and education support teachers Ivano Groom and Jessica Norris.
