The foundation is a not-for-profit organisation with a mission to inspire and equip educators to run a kitchen garden program that fits their individual school or service needs.
The foundation supports more than 1000 early child services and schools, delivers more than three million kitchen garden experiences for students annually and its program is recognised worldwide.
Among the educational centres involved in the program is St Francis Primary School in Nathalia.
The program is led by the foundation’s expert training team and delivers practical, fun and flexible professional development sessions that help teach students food literacy skills and the importance of nutritious foods.
SDA has contributed almost $1 million to the foundation since 2019 and will continue to support the program for another two years.
SDA operations director Gerard Lourey said the partnership between the two organisations had helped give young Australians practical food education across Australia.
“Together, we are promoting healthy lifestyle habits through responsible food and nutrition choices, and we are excited to join the Stephanie Alexander Kitchen Garden Foundation for another two years,” he said.
Stephanie Alexander Kitchen Garden Foundation chief executive Cathy Wilkinson said she was excited about the continued partnership.
“Investing in the capacity of the foundation enables us to reach more schools and early childhood services right across the country,” she said.
“As we celebrate our 20th anniversary this year, we are proud to continue having Saputo Dairy Australia as part of our kitchen garden family.”
