Rotary presented two customer service awards this year, which are given for outstanding and consistent customer service to those who do a little bit extra.
This year’s recipients were Lynette Forster of RACV Resort Cobram and Rosa Crea from Bakers Delight.
The Apprentice of the Year award was given to John Foley, a mature-age apprentice employed by CPE Engineering.
Mr Foley had begun his apprenticeship in 2019 and completed all his work to a high standard, including extra work in his own time that put him ahead even during the COVID-19 pandemic.
He is also a 1st Lieutenant and training officer with the CFA and is an active member of the Cobram Barooga Apex Club.
In light of being unable to host a handover dinner last year, Cobram Rotary also decided to award joint Citizen of Distinction awards to Darren Laffan and Noel Gould.
Mr Laffan helped co-ordinate approximately 40 hay runs for Need for Feed, which delivers hay to drought-stricken farmers in needy areas.
He has helped the committee co-ordinate trucks and merchandise, as well as delivering food packages to farmers experiencing milk price and water problems.
Mr Gould has more than 50 years of pastoral care experience in the Methodist and Uniting churches, holding many positions and helping out in many roles and at many events.
He has also provided assistance to Community Transport for more than 10 years, driving people to appointments in Shepparton and Melbourne.
