Cardiovascular Disease is the leading cause of death in Australia, but it doesn’t need to be.
Most of the factors that cause this disease are treatable i.e blood pressure, cholesterol, smoking, diabetes, poor diet and lack of exercise.
High blood pressure remains the primary contributing factor to cardiovascular deaths in Australia.
Data from SiSU Health Stations indicate that almost 50% of people haven’t had their blood pressure checked in the last 12 months.
Heart disease is the leading killer of Aussie men, with 30 men dying each day from heart disease, making it the leading cause of death for men.
Raised blood pressure is increasingly linked to cardiovascular-related deaths in men aged 25 – 49 years but they wouldn’t think of themselves as being at risk.
The SiSU Health Station will be located at Bunnings Yarrawonga until January 15, 2025.
