A man has died and two police officers are seriously injured following a car crash in Strathmerton.

According to police, it’s understood a van and a police vehicle collided on Murray Valley Hwy at the Stokes Rd intersection about noon on Tuesday, February 15.
The driver and sole occupant of the van, a man who is yet to be formally identified, sadly died at the scene.
The two male police officers, a first constable and a detective sergeant, have been airlifted to hospital in Melbourne with serious injuries.
According to police, there is no indication the officers were in pursuit of the van and it’s believed they were on patrol as part of their duties.
Major Collision Investigation Unit detectives will visit the scene to establish the circumstances surrounding the collision.
Motorists are advised that diversions are in place and the scene will remain closed for some time while investigators examine the area.
