Members of the Deniliquin-Conargo, Jeriliderie and Tocumwal SES units met in Deniliquin on Monday evening for the training on the Edward River.
It focussed on boat safety and procedures, with the group spending a couple of hours going over the basics of how to take off safely onto the river, how to navigate the river, and other activities to enhance their boating skills.
Murray SES Deputy Zone Commander, Superintendent Scott McLeannan, said the training is preparation for new boats which are expected to be delivered to the region in the near future.
“This type of training is crucial for volunteers, as it helps them develop the necessary skills to effectively respond to emergencies and potentially save lives,” he said.
“The volunteers were enthusiastic and engaged throughout the training day, and it was a great opportunity for them to learn from each other and share their experiences.”
