The event is open for kids under five (referred to as Kinderoos) U6, U7, U8, U10, and U12, and girls of all ages.
Club secretary Kristie Walker said anyone interested in playing soccer could come along and learn fun skills in a friendly environment.
“It’s a fun, family event, with no strings attached,” she said.
Ms Walker said participants did not need to have any experience playing soccer.
“It is open to all skill levels of soccer, both boys and girls,” she said.
Should participants find that soccer is something they want to do, Ms Walker said parents could sign up for the 2023 season, which is played on Saturday in Shepparton.
Ms Walker said kids who joined the Nurmurkah District Club found many benefits, both on and off the field.
She said it was a family-orientated club, and players and their families, who often came from around the region, formed strong bonds that lasted a lifetime.
“We don’t have individual players, the team succeeds as a group,” she said.
This sense of team spirit is evident not only during games but also at training sessions, which always end with a barbecue to raise money for the club.
Ms Walker said participants gained many health benefits from playing soccer such as improved hand-eye co-ordination and motor skills, as well as a lift in their general fitness.
As for parents worried that soccer would become all-consuming, Ms Walker said they should not worry.
“Soccer games aren’t held during school holidays and public holidays, allowing players and families to go away,” she said.
As for costs, Ms Walker said the club tried to keep them low.
“We are one the cheapest clubs with our fees within the Shepparton Junior Soccer Association,” she said.
For those wanting to take their game further, Ms Walker said there were opportunities for players to use the club as a springboard to higher levels.
“Shepparton Junior Soccer Association has a squad that club members can eventually seek to join,” she said.
