Emergency services received the alert about a blaze on Millewa Rd, in the Bullatale region, about 2.30pm.
Mid Murray Zone Rural Fire Services crews responded, as did the NSW National Park and Wildlife Services.
Deniliquin’s RFS brigade attended with two trucks to assist, and firefighters brought the blaze under control within an hour.
No known cause has been identified.
The fire burned an area of about 7ha, which is being closely monitored by NPWS for potential reignition.
The NSW RFS said there have also been a number of out of area reports of fires originating from hay stacks, debris piles, and farm machinery across the region.
It urges residents to regularly inspect their farm machinery and closely monitor hay stacks and debris piles for potential combustion threats.
If you see a fire, report it to Triple Zero (000) immediately.
