Molotov cocktails were thrown at a Katandra home early on Tuesday, May 24.
Shepparton Crime Investigation Unit Detective Senior Constable Jamie England said two or three molotov cocktails were thrown at the front door of the house about 6am.
They were in glass bottles, and testing is being done to determine what the alight substance inside was, Det Sen Constable England said.
Firefighters were called to put out the fire.
The house’s occupants were home at the time but no-one was hurt.
Police are keen to speak to anyone who may have seen anything suspicious.
“It’s not something you see happen all the time,” Det Sen Constable England said.
Police are trying to work out the motive for the attack.
