As the weather warms up and the roads dry out, their condition will become worse due to subsurface moisture rising through the pavement seal and causing the seal to break.
Council director of infrastructure services Josh Lewis has asked residents for patience and understanding while staff work hard to have the roads back in good condition.
“We know the conditions of some of our council roads are getting worse, and we understand the community concern,” Mr Lewis said.
“We want the community to know that we’re managing it, we’re looking at interim and permanent fixes.
“Our teams are working extremely hard to ensure the safety of our residents, but because of the weather conditions it is going to continue to get worse.
“Some of the issues are on state roads managed by the Department of Transport, so we’re working with DoT to raise awareness; however, it’s not going to get any better in the short term.”
Council staff are actively patrolling the roads but encourage residents to report any damage they see in their travels via the council website, where they can log any road maintenance requests.
