Local leaders and community groups were recognised for their outstanding achievements throughout the turbulent year that was 2022 at Moama’s Australia Day celebrations on Thursday.

Olympian clay target shooter James Willett trekked over from Yarrawonga to be the official ambassador of the day.
“Australia Day is a time for Australians to reflect, respect and celebrate,” Mr Willett said.
“Today I encourage everyone to share a little bit about their story, listen to the stories of others, and celebrate the people around you.
“We’re all part of the Australian story.”
Outside all the pomp and ceremony, Moama Lions could be seen cooking up a mouth-watering breakfast, kids had their faces painted by Margaret Ritchie and bubbles — made by TwistED scientists — floated through the air.
