That would be Michael Greenaway, the school's new principal.
After 15 years in the education industry, he's ready to take on a new job in a new town.
“This will be my second principal job, the first one also being in a small school, so that does have it's advantages,” he said.
“I'm originally from Seymour and have worked in schools around there — Euroa, Strathbogie and Longwood — before getting the job in Colbinabbin.”
And some would say having four children under the age of seven would help prepare him.
“It's a handful sometimes, but it's like work, it's always rewarding,” he said.
But there were a few years where Mr Greenaway left the world of teaching and went on a highflying adventure — literally.
“I was actually a pilot for five years,” he said.
“I was training Chinese airline cadets and really enjoyed it, but my calling was always teaching.”
He said he always found the job to be rewarding in one way or another.
“I've always loved working with people and for me, at this point in my life, this is where I feel I can be the most useful,” he said.
“At the beginning I didn't have to put much thought into it, it's just what I wanted to do.
“Having an overarching role as a principal is great and I hope to do as good a job as Robyn (Maclean) did.”
After a difficult year in 2020, Mr Greenaway is looking forward to getting things back on track.
“We've already started our tutor program, which is a government initiative, that we're going to use to help our students post-COVID,” he said.
“This will assist us in identifying the students that have fallen behind and allow us to help them get back to the level they can be at.”
Mr Greenaway said he was keen to work with the staff to keep Colbinabbin Primary going strong.
“The place has got a really good reputation already and a really hardworking team of staff so initially watching them and how they work,” he said.
“I'd like to build on the environmental side of things; it seems to be a big passion here already so I'd like to get them involved in the RACV Energy Breakthrough for example and a few other initiatives like that.
“I really want to bring a bit of myself into the school as well.”
