Man charged following Tocumwal house fire

Fire and Rescue NSW attended and extinguished the blaze about an hour later. The fire caused significant damage.

There was no-one home at the time.

Officers attached to Murray River Police District responded and established a crime scene and commenced an investigation.

Following inquiries by Deniliquin detectives, at about 2pm on Wednesday police attended a house in Murray St, Tocumwal and arrested a 46-year-old man.

He was taken to Finley Police Station, where he was charged with damage/destroy property by fire.

He was refused bail to appear at Albury Local Court on Thursday, August 22.
