The Seymour Sports and Aquatic Centre pool will be closed from April 8 for four weeks while pool maintenance works and centre upgrades are done.
Most other services will run as normal. The gym will be open for its usual business hours, with some restrictions to gym access while equipment is upgraded — these will be listed on Mitchell Shire Council’s website and Facebook pages.
The works planned include upgrading the pool’s heating system, replacing damaged tiles and grouting and cleaning the pool.
In the rest of the centre, the stadium floor will be resurfaced, new carpet will be installed in the foyer and new chairs in the pool deck.
The works were originally planned for Christmas, but were postponed due to the outdoor pool being closed.
Council said it has chosen the school holiday period for the works because it would limit disruptions to ‘learn to swim’ classes.
All swim-only and learn to swim members will be automatically credited during the closure period.
Members can access the Kilmore Leisure Centre pool and gym for free during this time, including school holiday program activities.
Council chief executive Brett Luxford said the works were important, but that disruption would hopefully be kept to a minimum.
“We’ll work with our user groups and members to limit the impact this will have and work on alternative options while the centre is closed,” Mr Luxford said.
