Trent entered his ticket by shopping locally at Judds Yarrawonga buying Christmas presents for the family.
A surprised Trent thought it was a hoax call, when contacted about his win.
“What, you are having me on right? Wow what can I say? So where am I going on this holiday,” he quickly pondered.
“I make sure we shop local. I see a lot of local businesses supporting raffles and fundraising auctions that help out at clubs.
“It’s so important we support them, where we can,” Trent said
But after the reality sunk that he had won a $3,000 holiday voucher, he was already planning his next move.
“Our daughter Eli is heading overseas to Spain next year to work and live with a family and teach English.
“We planned to visit her, so the voucher will come in handy to do that,” Trent said.
Trent thanked the Yarrawonga Chronicle and Rosa at HelloWorld Travel for putting together the shop local promotion.
The travel voucher was made available by the Yarrawonga Chronicle in partnership with Harvey World Travel Cobram and tickets in the draw were available to people shopping locally at participating businesses.
Harvey World Travel Cobram owner and manager Rosa Luff, with the assistance of Yarrawonga Chronicle Managing Editor Jared Loughnan, drew out the lucky winner on Thursday, December 19 at 11am at the Chronicle office.
Rosa thanked the Chronicle for the fantastic promotion which promotes local shopping during an important time for traders.
“This has been a wonderful promotion, and congratulations to our local winner,” Rosa said.
Jared said the promotion has been extremely popular in the lead-up to Christmas.
“We had well over almost a thousand tickets entered since the promotion started six weeks ago, so a lot of people have been shopping locally, which is wonderful to see,” Jared said.
“Congratulations to our winner Trent Head, and a special thanks to Rosa and her team at Harvey World Travel Cobram for joining us in this fabulous shop local promotion.
“Also, I would like to give a shout-out to our wonderful local participating businesses: Canning Arts/Fun and Games, Wingates Intersport, Bike Locker, Judds Yarrawonga, Dominques Jewellers and Skin Ski and Surf.”
