Four outdated lighting towers surrounding the reserve’s oval are set to be replaced as part of a $365,000 collaboration between the Victorian Government, Moira Shire Council and the Cobram Football Netball Club.
Cobram FNC spokesperson Rob Allen said the funding would resolve a long-standing issue with the oval’s lighting system.
"The current lighting towers are so outdated that we can't even source replacement globes any more," Mr Allen said.
"This upgrade will provide proper training facilities, which is crucial for keeping our young footballers engaged locally rather than having them travel to other towns with better facilities.
“With new lighting, we’ll be able to expand our junior programs and create more opportunities for young people to participate in sports right here in Cobram. This is a game-changer for the club."
While the Cobram FNC put forward $60,000 for the project, the Victorian Government, through its Country Football and Netball Program, provided $224,898.
The Moira Shire Council contributed $80,000 to the project.
Council Chair Administrator Dr Graeme Emonson highlighted the importance of quality facilities in promoting active, healthy lifestyles.
"This significant investment at Scott Oval will ensure local clubs have access to modern, high-quality infrastructure that meets their growing needs while encouraging greater participation in sport across the region,“ he said.
The Country Football and Netball Program enables the Victorian Government to fund such projects through local councils.
