Barooga Advancement Group vice-president and carols co-ordinator Renee Brooker said she wished to see the community have a good time on Sunday, December 8.
A veritable feast for the senses is in order for the evening, with the JBS Solomon Islander Choir performing, along with Milly Moonbeam, Doug and Jackie Lee, Lonnie O’Dwyer and special guest Andrew Wishart.
With a musical career spanning over three decades, Wishart shot to fame after placing runner-up in The X Factor in 2011.
There will be face painting for the kids, while the Barooga Public School will provide a barbecue. Cold drinks will be available for purchase, and bountiful prizes donated generously by local businesses will be up for grabs in a raffle.
Barooga Advancement Group president and Berrigan Shire Mayor Julia Cornwell McKean said last year’s Carols by Candlelight was the event’s biggest yet.
“It’s a really good community event,” she said.
“It’s a great, fun night. The seniors know the trick: they bring their chairs down early.”
Candles will be $2 each and are available for purchase on the evening.
The event starts at 6pm at the Barooga Botanic Gardens, with a gold coin donation for entry. Proceeds from gold coin donations will be re-invested into the community through the Barooga Advancement Group’s projects.
