Mrs Varty claimed a $100 Deniliquin Business Chamber Why Leave Town Deni gift card on Friday, in our Golden Bunny Bonanza bonus draw.
The bonus prize was added due to the success of the local initiative, with $600 of a total $5600 prize pool now given away.
This Friday, there will be draws for gift cards valued at $500, $1500 and $3000.
Mrs Varty’s winning ticket came from Soul Pattinson Chemist, earned when she took part in the Deni North School Shopping Spree on November 28.
Winning the $100 shop local gift card was a pleasant surprise for Mrs Varty.
“I never win anything like this,” she said.
It was even better that she won it through Deni North’s shopping spree, an event that saw 13 local businesses mark down stock, encouraging further spending locally.
When asked how her prize may be spent, Mrs Varty was more than happy to share with us.
“Oh, I might be coming back here to Soul Pattinson,” she said.
“I have done all of my Christmas shopping, so I might just get myself something.”
Mrs Varty said while she always tried to support local businesses, she admitted it has increased recently specifically because of the Golden Bunny Bonanza initiative.
This means its aim of encouraging people to shop local is working.
“We have definitely seen an influx of people, or a rise in customers, because of the shop local promotion, and the opportunity to win something,” Kristy Campbell from Soul Pattinson said.
