Ahead of World Diabetes Day, Shepparton Lions Club will host a Lap the Map event to help end diabetes stigma.
The walk will take place on Sunday, November 12 around Victoria Park Lake in Shepparton and is one of many events taking place in the lead-up to World Diabetes Day on November 14.
The Lions Club brought in diabetes educator Belinda Moore to help organise the event.
“Lap the Map is all about bringing the Shepparton community together to connect and support one another as we all strive to live healthy lives,” she said.
Lap the Map is an initiative started by Lions Clubs Australia seven years ago to raise awareness of diabetes. Lions Clubs across the country hold Lap the Map events, and the total kilometres done from each race are added up to lap the entirety of Australia.
On the day, Rumbarala and Diabetes Victoria will be involved, and the Lions Club will also be fundraising for Lions medical alert dogs and type 1 diabetes camps.
Individuals can also sign up and add their walks to the national total.
The event is free to attend and will take place on Sunday, November 12 from 10.30am to 12.30pm.
