Benalla’s Kevin Harper was proud to attend a service to commemorate the 70th Anniversary of the ceasefire in Korea at Melbourne’s Shrine of Remembrance.

More than 100 people attended the event on July 27.
There were 25 Korean War Veterans there on the day, including two gentlemen who served with the US Army.

They were all recognised for their service and sacrifice.
Shrine of Remembrance Governor Adrian Lombardo and Colonel Neil Smith (retired) were guest speakers.
Senior Sergeant Rod Munro read the Poem of Remembrance.
The Korean Children’s Choir led the singing of both the Australian and South Korean national anthems.
Attendees then travelled to the Pullman Hotel in East Melbourne for a luncheon with the Consulate.
On arrival at the Hotel, there was a fabulous display of photos of the Veterans professionally produced in April.
These were presented personally to each veteran at the conclusion of the day.
Mr Harper, 92, attended along with his very proud children, Garry, Susan, Lynne, Leigh and their partners.
Also in attendance were his Grandchildren Sam and Lauren and Great-granddaughter Ava.
The framed photos were a wonderful surprise for Kevin and will be displayed in his home for all visitors to see.
