A crate of five kelpie puppies made an appearance at Shepparton Regional Saleyards recently, absorbing the sights and smells while melting hearts. Katunga sheep and cattle farmer ‘Sue’ brought them to the saleyards to drum up some interest.
Are these all the puppies?
No. There was 13 in the litter. Most are back home.
What breed are they?
Purebred red-and-tan kelpies.
What are their parents like?
Both are working dogs, doing both sheep and cattle. These puppies will be able to handle sheep and cattle.
Why bring them here today?
We’ve got them here at the saleyards for people to have a look at. I thought I’d bring them down today because the litter was so large and I have so many.
Is there much interest?
A lot of interest. The guys here are really looking for those dogs who can do sheep and cattle properly.
How old are they?
Eight weeks old.
