Students from Katamatite Primary School are set to join in the 2023 Woolworths Junior Landcare Grants program alongside children from towns around Australia.
The program helps schools build and develop hands-on environmental learning projects, with the hope of helping students become more environmentally conscious.
The grant is worth up to $1000.
The 2023 program will also officially include First Nations perspectives on projects.
Woolworths Goulburn and Murray Valley Victoria state manager Sarah Gooding said she hoped the program would help kids learn to enjoy the great outdoors.
“Bringing the classroom to the great outdoors and encouraging kids to get hands-on with nature is always something we’re excited to see, and we hope all of the schools ... will have fun working on their new projects.”
Katamatite Primary School principal Jason Whiteley said he was absolutely thrilled about the grant.
“This grant will enable us to revitalise our beloved vegetable garden, bringing an exciting opportunity for our students to learn and grow,” he said.
To date, Woolworths has contributed more than $5 million to more than 4900 Junior Landcare projects, involving more than 400,000 students across Australia.
