The annual event, run by the Lions Club of Seymour Goulburn in collaboration with the combined churches of Seymour, is one of the community’s favourites.
Carols in the Park starts at 4pm on Sunday, December 8 at Goulburn Park, Seymour.
A Lions Club spokesperson said the combined churches of Seymour would be represented at the event by Pastor Daniel Sanders, from the Central Church Seymour.
“Carols in the Park has been a popular community event staged by the Lions Club in Seymour for over 53 years,” the spokesperson said.
“It’s always well supported by the community, with lots of happy families attending as part of their own annual tradition.”
Carols in the Park kicks off at 4pm with pre-show entertainment by the Mitchell Shire Concert Band and roaming performers. There will also be free slushies and popcorn for the kids.
There will be plenty of food vans on-site, including the ever popular Lions Club barbecue.
The main concert begins at 6pm with the Army Band performing again this year as well as guest artists Shanae Watson and local postie Chris Watson.
“The school choirs will be a highlight on the night,” the Lions Club spokesperson said.
Raffle tickets will be on sale, with winners announced at the completion of the main concert.
The raffle is sponsored by K-Hub, Coles, Woolworths, IGA, Kemp’s Furniture, Toyworld, Bunnings and the Lions Club.
The spokesperson said a donation from the proceeds would be made to the CFA District 12 Headquarters Brigade.
“Captain Darrel Warren was very grateful to the Lions Club when he was approached regarding the donation,” the spokesperson said.
“The money will be used to purchase a much-needed UHF radio and GPS unit for their truck.”
The highlight for many in attendance will be the arrival of Santa, who his catching a lift on a fire truck and will have plenty of lollies to give away.
“A photo with Santa is a great way to finish the night,” the spokesperson said.
“Unfortunately, due to no available alternatives, if it rains, the event will be cancelled.
“The Lions Club of Seymour Goulburn, along with the combined churches of Seymour, are looking forward to a great day and hope to see lots of happy families.”
