A house was destroyed in a fire on Tuesday, June 6.
Nathalia police Sergeant Bruce Rigoni said firefighters and emergency services were called to a property at Yielima — about 9km north of Nathalia — between 2pm and 3pm.
The fire at the Murray Valley Hwy home had been spotted by a farm worker next door, who noticed smoke coming from the rear of the house.
No-one was home when the fire broke out, with the elderly resident away at the time.
Six CFA units attended the fire but the weatherboard home was engulfed in flames when firefighters arrived.
While the fire was under control before 4.30pm, firefighters remained on scene putting out the fire.
The house was destroyed, Sgt Rigoni said.
Sgt Rigoni said the fire was not being treated as suspicious.
