The event was organised by the Benalla Wide Action Committee and the Benalla Aged Friendly Committee with the assistance of Waminda Community House, Benalla Rural City Council, Rotary, Benalla Bowls Club and U & I Designs.
Waminda Community House manager Leeanne Bullard said this was the fifth event.
“It is actually part of Seniors Week, but we had to do it early this year for logistical reasons,” Ms Bullard said.
Doris Billingsley, one of the organisers, she said the event was very successful and it would return next year.
“We sold 101 tickets,” she said.
“We have five models, wearing a variety of outfits.”
We got funding of $500 from Benalla Rotary and $1000 from Aged Friendly Benalla, through Benalla council.
“Technically it was $25 per head, but that funding allowed us to sell the tickets for $10.”
“And we sold out quick. The bowls club did the food and it’s been really good.
Ms Billingsley said there was some big group bookings of up to 10 people.
“We were pleased to have a table booked by Estia Health,” she said.
“Everyone was happy and chatting so overall it’s been a great afternoon.”
