In light of changes to the season forced by the Victorian COVID-19 lockdown, the league has made the decision to move the grand final from September 4 to September 18.
The move follows the Bendigo Football and Netball League's decision to move its grand final from September 18 to September 24.
The decision now adds an extra two weeks to the season, which will likely provide the opportunity for the competition to reschedule their two postponed rounds to later in the year.
HDFNL chairman Peter Cole said a lot of work was still needed to finalise the fixture.
“There is still a bit to work through in relation to ratifying the draw,” he said.
“But ultimately we have pushed our grand final back, which gives us options throughout this unknown period.
“Of course, our main focus is to get back up and running as soon as we can, and we are hopeful that will be this weekend, albeit maybe without crowds and Melbourne-based footballers and netballers.
“But it will be a start nonetheless. We will see what transpires in the next 48 hours in relation to COVID restrictions and how that will affect the region.”
