The Draft Gannawarra Walking and Cycling Strategy will assist the ongoing development of the tracks in the region.
The draft was developed using feedback from the community, and recommends ways council can improve liveability, connectivity and recreational opportunities within the municipality.
Gannawarra Shire Mayor Charlie Gillingham said the community feedback highlighted the fact that more could be done to “enhance” the existing tracks.
Cr Gillingham said the draft strategy aimed to build on the feedback and develop a network of tracks that encouraged use and showcased the flora and fauna of the region.
The Draft Gannawarra Walking and Cycling Strategy features 21 actions, split into five strategic outcomes, that aim to enhance walking and cycling opportunities within towns across the Gannawarra and connections between communities.
“These projects range from town walks in Cohuna, Kerang, Koondrook, Lake Charm, Leitchville, Murrabit and Quambatook to municipality-wide projects, such as the Kerang to Koondrook Rail Trail,” Cr Gillingham said.
Residents are able to provide feedback on the document any time before 5pm Thursday, September 15 by visiting www.gsc.vic.gov.au/walking
The feedback will help the development of the final strategy that will be presented to council in the coming months.
