They were taking part in a three-day leadership camp in Melbourne.
A CSC spokesperson said the first day was an exciting blend of learning and entertainment.
“The day began with a visit to the Channel Nine studios, where the student leaders gained valuable insights into the world of media, exploring behind-the-scenes operations and the art of broadcasting,” the spokesperson said.
“Zarli Kerr, a former CSC student, that has just completed studying a journalism degree in Melbourne, joined the group.”
In the evening, the students were treated to watching the stage show Sister Act at the Regent Theatre.
On the second day, students had the chance to meet Noah Sullivan, a former CSC student (and dux) now studying a mechanical engineering degree.
He shared his experiences as a student at the Melbourne University and gave an honest look at what student life is like — lots of great advice all around!
“They also visited the offices of (engineering company) GHD and got to learn about the Society of Engineers and all the amazing work they’re doing,” the spokesperson said.
“Students gained valuable insights into the real-world applications of engineering and sustainability, aligning with the company’s mission of shaping better futures.”
After that, the day wrapped up with a visit to The Project studio, where the students got to be part of the live audience for the current affairs program.
It was a unique experience, giving the students a behind-the-scenes look at how live shows come together and the energy that drives them.
On the last day of the Leadership Camp, students headed to the prestigious Savoy Hotel, where they had the chance to meet some successful professionals who are at the top of their fields.
The event featured a panel discussion with high-profile individuals who have made significant strides in their careers.
The panellists included:
- Dr Emma West: A former CSC student, now a director of emergency medicine training and a senior doctor at the Royal Melbourne Hospital, known for her expertise in emergency care and medical training. She has also appeared on the TV program Emergency.
- Abbey Hoolahan, also a former CSC student, who’s now a lawyer with extensive experience in the legal sector.
- Emily Mannix, a prominent netball player with the Melbourne Vixens.
- Stephen Moore, regional manager for TFE Hotels, a leading figure in the hospitality industry.
- Tayla Crane from the Richmond Institute, who brought insights from the education and community development sectors.
