The Murray Valley Cricket Association's next crop of rising cricket stars spent a week recently battling it out in the Northern Riversâ€™ Junior Country Week carnival.

Despite no MVCA outfits reaching grand final day, the under-17 outfit came within a whisker of finishing inside the ladder's top two.

A classic round three win against Upper Loddon Cricket Association was almost enough for the under-17s to reach grand final day, however, the side finished fourth on the ladder and missed out by two points.

Cobram-Yarroweyah United's Matteo Allen (105 runs) finished the under-17 carnival with the most runs scored for MVCA, while Cobram's Jack Beasley collected the most wickets with 11.

Finley's Lenny Dattoli was the under-15A's most economical bowler with an average of 9 and six wickets to his name from 10.3 overs.

Tocumwal youngster Logan White enjoyed a strong under-13A carnival with a brilliant 67-run knock and 95 runs from three matches.
