Moira Shire Council’s Freeza Youth is screening the classic film School of Rock on Friday, January 20 at Apex Park on Harbison Ave, Numurkah.
The 2003 film starring Hollywood icon Jack Black depicts a down-on-his-luck musician who impersonates a friend to gain a position as a substitute teacher at a prestigious US school.
Black’s character then proceeds to use the role to carry out his own musical aspirations.
The free event starts at 8pm and runs till 9.30pm.
Popcorn will be available for free and attendees are encouraged to bring their own blankets, chairs and mosquito repellent.
The family-friendly event is strictly drug, alcohol, vape and smoke-free with organisers asking all children to be accompanied by an adult.
Acting manager of community health and culture Hollie Barnes said the event was a great opportunity to get together as a community.
“Freeza is a great way to bring young people and families together. The pop-up movies are always extremely popular and we look forward to a lot of families coming along to enjoy the event,” Ms Barnes said.
Freeza is state-run government program which hosts programs designed to deliver safe, youth-friendly events for young Victorians aged 12 to 25.
Moira Shire Council is also holding a Freeza movie night in Yarrawonga on Saturday, January 21 with the screening of the 2003 film Freaky Friday.
