Over two weekends this month, Jacobson’s Outlook in Nagambie and the old Gambles Nursery Site in Euroa will transform into a winter wonderland.
Council, Go Nagambie and the Euroa Chamber of Business and Commerce are creating family-friendly events that will bring ice-skating to Strathbogie Shire.
The weekend in Euroa will feature two free movie screenings at the Euroa Community Cinema.
Everest (M) will screen from 7.30pm on Saturday, June 18. It tells the story of New Zealand's Robert "Rob" Edwin Hall, who on May 10, 1996, teamed up with Scott Fischer on a joint expedition to ascend Mount Everest.
This will be followed by a free 4pm screening of Happy Feet (G) on Sunday, June 19. This is a family-friendly animated film delving into the world of emperor penguins, who find their soulmates through song. In Happy Feet, a penguin is born who has to learn to compensate for his inability to sing through unique tap dancing skills.
The events have been made possible after Strathbogie Shire Council received funding through the Victorian Government ‘s Outdoor Activation Fund.
Winter Wonderland activities include an ice-skating rink set up with inflatable surrounds, skates, helmets, penguin trolleys for smaller children and experts to fit the skates and provide instructions.
Ice-skating and film bookings can be made online.
The Winter Wonderland will be held at Jacobson’s Outlook in Nagambie on June 11 from 11am to 7pm and June 12 from 11am to 4pm, and the old Gamble’s Nursery site in Euroa on June 18 from 11am to 7pm and June 19 from 11am to 4pm.
