Committee for Greater Shepparton chief executive Linda Nieuwenhuizen said candidate nominations would close on Friday, November 11.
The News will partner with the committee to present the event, with all confirmed candidates to be given their chance to participate.
“Voters need to number in order of preference every name on the ballot for the district of Shepparton, so understanding what the other candidates on the ballot are promising — or not — is important,” Ms Nieuwenhuizen said.
The forum format will be similar to the one held prior to the Federal Election in April, with the community, voters and business invited to submit questions in advance of the event.
“The questions we receive help us confirm the issues that are top of mind for our community and need to be covered at the forum,” Ms Nieuwenhuizen said.
“C4GS has already identified the Shepparton Bypass, funding completion of GV Health’s redevelopment, housing and education as priorities for our incoming member — the recent floods have added urgency to these calls.”
News Deputy Editor Max Stainkamph, who will co-moderate the event with Ms Nieuwenhuizen, said the event was free and open to all ages and interests.
“This is a great opportunity for everyone in the district of Shepparton to come along and hear from the candidates on what is important to them, what they stand for and what priorities they have as representatives of Shepparton,” he said.
Residents and voters can submit questions for the candidates when they register at https://sheppartonforum.eventbrite.com.au and by email to admin@c4gs.com.au
The forum will take place at Riverlinks Westside, corner of Echuca Rd and Homewood Dve, Mooroopna, from 5.30pm to 7:30pm on Tuesday, November 15.
