Four forums will be conducted over the coming weeks and will see all of the candidates take part.
Liberal candidate Cheryl Hammer, Nationals candidate Kim O’Keeffe, and Peter Lalich from the Animal Justice Party, alongside Ms Sheed, are set to take part in the forums, which will see them discuss a range of topics and issues affecting the Shepparton region.
“These are welcome platforms to speak to different interest groups across the electorate and a chance to help people decide who to vote for,” Ms Sheed said.
Ms Sheed urged the public to attend at least one forum.
“These forums are a fantastic opportunity to learn more about the issues in our electorate,” she said.
“People can come along with questions, hear from each candidate and so help form their views as we move towards election day.”
The Victorian Farmers Federation was set to conduct the first forum on Monday, November 7, from 7pm to 8.30pm at the Shepparton RSL.
But due to the recent flooding in the region, the VFF has postponed the event and is currently working with candidates and the community on taking the next appropriate steps.
The News and Committee for Greater Shepparton will jointly conduct a forum, with the public able to ask questions to each candidate. The forum is going to be at the Eastbank Centre, Welsford St, on Tuesday, November 15, from 5.30pm.
There will be two further forums conducted: one by the Goulburn Murray Social Workers Group but the location and time and date details for this are unclear at this stage.
The Migrant Women’s Network will host a forum on Thursday, November 10 at the La Trobe University, Shepparton Campus, 210 Fryers St, Shepparton, which will run from 5pm to 7pm.
