A probationary driver who did not have his P-plates displayed has been fined and ordered to pay court costs.
Elbino Yel, 24, of Shepparton was charged with failing to display P-plates.
He did not appear in Shepparton Magistrates’ Court and the matter was heard in his absence.
The court was told he did not have P-plates on the car he was driving when he was pulled over by police on November 27 last year after his vehicle flagged on the police automatic number plate recognition device as having an expired registration.
Yel told police at the time he “forgot” to put the plates on, and he elected to have the matter heard in court.
He was fined $400 and ordered to pay $131.50 in court costs.
No conviction was recorded.
