The Deniliquin Drovers Rugby Union Club are looking to start a regular social touch football competition.

A casual competition, it will be held Thursdays from 6pm at Deniliquin Rotary Park (behind the Sports Stadium).
“Depending on interest, we’ll look to start a proper touch comp coming into February next year,” the club posted on Wednesday night.
The club also made mention of the fact they will be celebrating their 40th year as a club next season, so it would be lovely to get some of that community, of the Drovers players and supporters, back together.
Time Capsule opening edges closer
The Rotary Club of Deniliquin are preparing the envelopes that are being sold to go in the new time capsule.
With plans to dig up and open the time capsule that has been buried since the year 2000, the Rotary Club of Deniliquin have also set their sights on the preparation for their next time capsule.
The opening of the time capsule that is currently in the ground is scheduled for Saturday, January 25, Australia Day.
Rotarian’s and interested peoples locally will be eager to see what was left in the original time capsule all those years ago.
Envelopes are currently being sold from MyShop, at 40 Napier St and the Pastoral Times office at 230 Cressy St, the envelopes can have a letter placed in them for future generations of locals to read and get an insight into what life was like when it was placed in the ground.
This will be a similar set of circumstances for those in attendance of the January 25 opening.
Another Santa sighting
Santa is stretching himself extremely thin this year around Deniliquin.
From photos in the Waring Gardens to interactions with kids and families at recent community Christmas events, the big man is getting around.
But that won't stop him from his upcoming appearance.
Santa and his reindeer will be making a stop at the Brick Kiln Cafe, not just once, but twice.
The first being this weekend, Sunday December 15, and next weekend Sunday December 22, arriving at 9am and finishing up at 2pm.
Santa will be offering the chance to get photos, do some Christmas colouring, reindeer food making, cookie decorating and bauble decorating.
High Art closing
The Deniliquin High School’s ‘High Arts’ exhibition will be closing this Friday.
Featuring art created by 80 Deniliquin High School students from Years 7 to 12, it can be viewed at the Deniliquin Peppin Heritage Centre.
It has been a fantastic opportunity to see what students have been up to in their art classes, and the works they produced from those classes.
