Students and staff at Cobram Secondary College gathered to raise funds supporting the World’s Greatest Shave during lunchtime on Monday, October 14.

CSC assistant principal Matt Hendry said it was great to see students organising projects themselves.
“It’s a good applied learning initiative, where they can take some skills that they’ve learnt in the classroom and put them into practice,” he said.
“It’s really good to see they’re being community-minded and selfless in raising money for others.”
Vocational major teachers Nick Jackson and Lynda Howard put themselves forward to have their hair donated to the Leukaemia Foundation.
Year 11 teacher Mr Jackson said it was initially hard to part with his long hair.
He had been growing his brown locks for 16 months.
“I enjoy having long hair. But for a good cause ... it’s probably a good reason to part ways with it.”
Only once before, in his Year 12, did Mr Jackson grow it out as long as it was before Monday.

Run every year by the Leukaemia Foundation, the World’s Greatest Shave aims to raise awareness and support for blood cancer research.

The college aimed to raise at least $700 for the Leukaemia Foundation’s blood cancer research.
The fundraiser was organised by Year 12 students Olivia Newton and Micaela Wood as part of their Personal Development Skills class, taught by Mr Jackson.
