Community members of all faiths are invited to go to Thompsons Beach on Sunday, December 8, for a service by the Igniting Life Church, Cobram.
Following a similar event in Yarrawonga the week before last, organiser and joint pastor Greg Duns said the church is working to get more involved in the community.
Last December, the Church provided a service in its home opposite Mivo Park.
“There’s a good feeling down there at Thompsons Beach,” Mr Duns said.
“This year, we thought we’d run the whole service down there.”
Mr Duns will share a message of festive hope, while a choir of Solomon Islanders from JBS meat works will do a cultural presentation. At least three people will also be baptised in the Murray River.
Mr Duns said it would be a safe place to heal and to be accepted, valued and love.
The Church has grown from 25 members at its founding to over 100.
“We’re a church that welcomes people to come just as they are,” Mr Duns said.
The free, family-friendly event will start at 11am.
Attendees are encouraged to bring their own picnic lunch, chairs and a picnic pug.
