Cobram Rotary Club has thanked some of the generous sponsors and volunteers who made its Swap Meet and Shannons Show “n” Shine possible.

Cobram Rotary Club vice-president Ellie Stephens and Cobram Rotary Club member Ian Collins presented certificates to Barooga Sports Club, Punt Road Kindergarten and the Cobram Anglican Grammar School.
Barooga Sports Club was a platinum sponsorand operating officer Anton Noble accepted the award on behalf of the club.
Mr Noble said sponsoring the event was part of the club’s commitment to the community and it was an easy decision to make.
“The club’s constitution was set up originally to make sure that we contributed to the community,” Mr Noble said.
“Our mission statement (includes) that the purpose of the Barooga Sports Club is to improve links to the community ... whether it be through sport or through organisational help like the Rotary Club.”
At the Cobram Anglican Grammar School Ms Stephens and Mr Collins presented Year 11 and 12 students who volunteered with a certificate and expressed their gratitude for the work students and the school did.
“They banded together, and they were a great support to us,” Ms Stephens said.
Caitlin Welch, the inaugural captain of community service at Cobram Anglican Grammar School, was one of the volunteers who assisted on the day.
She said it was fun to get out into the community.
Cobram Anglican Grammar School principal Keith Willet who was present at the ceremony said he was proud of his students and the community service they rendered was all part of the school’s charter to give back to the community.
Punt Road Kindergarten was also thanked and presented with a certificate for volunteering.
Though Ms Stephens and Mr Collins could not personally reach out to every organisation and business that helped make the Cobram Swap Meet and Shannon Show “n” Shine possible, Ms Stephens emphasised that each of them was invaluable in making the event possible.
“This is a huge thank you to everyone who’s contributed either as a sponsor or in their participation and helping make the day an absolute success,” Ms Stephens said.
All money raised has been earmarked for future community initiatives.

The event was also supported by volunteers from across the community including Cobram Anglican Grammar School, Bourke Hire, Edgars Insurance, Cobram Caravans, RACV, Strathmerton First Aid, Cobram Football Netball Club, Cobram Barooga Apex Club, Cobram Barooga Soroptimists, Punt Road Kindergarten, Cobram Lions Club, RACV and Cobram Scouts.
