The Cobram Barooga Commemoration Committee has announced service times for the 2024 Anzac Day ceremonies, held on Thursday, April 25, in the Cobram-Barooga area.
The group will be holding the following events in 2024:
- Dawn service at 6am at the Cobram and District War Memorial (corner Punt Rd and William St, Cobram). A gunfire breakfast will be available following the service. Gold coin donation.
- ANZAC March departs at 9.30am from Federation Park to the Cobram and District War Memorial. Community members are invited to participate in this march. Please assemble at Federation Park by 9.15am.
- Commemoration service at 10am (following the march) at the Cobram and District War Memorial. Refreshments will be available following this service at the Civic Centre. Gold coin donation.
- Commemoration service at 12.30pm at Sporties Barooga (10 Burkinshaw St, Barooga).
As in other years, personnel from the Army School of Health will be in attendance to form a catafalque party.
Royal Australian Navy commodore and former Cobram resident Ashley Papp will be the ceremony's guest speaker.
Cobram Barooga Commemoration Committee member David Kelly said Anzac Day was an important time to stop and reflect.
"Anzac Day means to me a chance for the community to get together to commemorate the sacrifices and service of Australian military personnel past and present," he said.
Mr Kelly is hoping as many people as possible attend the 2024 services.
"In the past, there has always been great attendance in these events, and I am really hoping to see a lot of people marching and attending the various services in the area."
