Whether you’re into stomach-churning rides or kicking back with a cup of hot chips to watch the crowds go by, there will be something for everyone.
Cobram Agricultural Society secretary Heidi French said this year’s show would cater to all ages, after feedback from the community last year.
“This year we’re found attractions that will range for toddlers through to teenagers,” she said.
Mrs French said the community had expressed significant interest in the show’s various competitions.
“Overall, [the response] has been fantastic. We’ve put posters up around town,” she said.
She said of last year’s show, the community was excited to see the show return after a three-year hiatus.
“After three years ... to hold something for the community again was fantastic to do,” she said.
Crowds will be held on the edge of their seats with the show jumping, while there will be competitions for sheep, dog and pony handling.
There will also be a petting zoo, face painting, mermaid braids, and Cartoon Portraits by Irene.
In two Cobram show firsts, Eljay Freestyle Entertainment is set to stun crowds with its world-renowned motorcycle and bicycle stunt display.
Level-up Gaming will also host a stall at the weekend where patrons can enter the world of virtual reality and show off their video-gaming skills.
Patrons will be able to check out gear used by the SES Cobram Unit — including its rescue truck and boat — and, for the kids, there will be a suite of emergency awareness activities on offer.
The Cobram branch of the CFA will exhibit its mobile education unit at the show to raise awareness of the fire danger period and what do to before and during an emergency.
The Australian Young Farmers’ Challenge will be returning to Cobram after a blockbuster first round at last year’s show.
The competition is for young rural people aged 18 to 35 years who are keen to demonstrate their skill in a range of farming-related tasks.
“People think you have to be a farmer to participate, but you don’t,” Mrs French said.
“Anyone can join, as long as there are four people.“
Mixed teams of up to four competitors will complete various tasks, including handling cattle, extinguishing a fire and delivering first aid.
There will be a flower exhibition and a show and shine for rigid, heavy and articulated trucks, with prizes and awards for everything from Champion Exhibit for Overall Flower Section to Best Waterfowl and Champion Bird in Show in the poultry pool.
The annual show is supported by Moira Shire Council and will be held at the Cobram Showgrounds on Saturday, October 26, and Sunday, October 27.
