Last weekend proved to be a huge success for the Finley High School Year 12 graduating class of 1973 reunion organised by Jill Braybon, Brian Hill and John Lane.

More than 20 former students from Finley, Berrigan and Tocumwal, together with very patient partners, had many trips down memory lane.
The weekend’s activities began with a get together Friday evening for the early arrivals, and concluded with a late breakfast at the home of Denis and Jill Braybon on Sunday morning.
And, of course, a stroll around the grounds of Finley High School was an important inclusion in between.
Several of the visitors who have not been back to Finley for some time were amazed by the varied and new facilities available to the current students.
Jill, Brian and John were thrilled to be able to contact every student from that class except two.
Sadly, two students had been lost to cancer - former school captain Paul O’Connell and Helen Duncan.
Ex-students travelled from Sydney, Canberra, Yass and many parts of the Riverina and Victoria.
All must be congratulated on their achievements since leaving Finley High School with success in business management, school teaching, laboratory research and chartered chemistry to name a few.
Many were pleased to catch up with Finley’s Bob Bevan who, after completing university, went on to teach in Tocumwal and Finley Primary Schools before finishing up at Lavington (near Albury) Primary School.
He has now retired but is still involved with state primary schools football.
Originally from Berrigan, Jean Dunn went on to do a course in commercial steganography in Albury.
Following her father’s death, she moved to Hervey Bay when her mother decided to move closer to her family.
It is more than 40 years since Jean has been in Finley, although she has passed through on occasions when travelling.
She and her husband Brian now have four children and were delighted to be able to be here for this very special occasion.
There were some students who were unable to be present because of other commitments, however there were several notes written expressing their regret and memories of their time at the school.
All those who were able to attend were happy with the reunion and look forward to catching up again in the not too distant future.
