This puts her among the highest achieving Year 12 students in Victoria in 2022.
For her final school year, Chloe studied English, Legal Studies, Psychology, Sociology and Australian Politics. She also fast-tracked Year 12 Literature in 2021.
Among her high scores, Chloe achieved a perfect 50 in Legal Studies.
As well as being a high-achieving student, Chloe was known for her kindness, compassion and, as one of the college’s student leaders, for guiding others by example and being a role model to her fellow students.
Staff at the Nathalia school noted that Chloe’s tenacity and drive to succeed were balanced by her humility.
This humility extended to her reaction when finding out her results.
“Extremely shocked, I knew I did the work to do all right but not that well,” Chloe said.
Chloe believed that the hard work put in by the teachers at St Mary of the Angels Secondary College was invaluable to her.
“I’d like to thank St Mary’s for all the work they put in over the years, and I had some really great teachers,” she said.
Chloe has a love of English and Literature, and plans to move to Brisbane next year to study journalism at the University of Queensland.
As for advice for 2023’s Year 12s, Chloe said balance was the key and to have something to enjoy outside of study.
“I am a dancer so I had an outlet,” she said.
“To have an outlet and a bit of a distraction (is crucial).”
St Mary of the Angels Secondary College Nathalia principal Matt Carver said Chloe’s achievements were outstanding and a true testament to her work ethic and attitude.
“Chloe worked her way quietly and diligently, and all of us at St Mary’s of the Angels are ecstatic at her achievements,” Mr Carver said.
Like Chloe, Mr Carver gave credit to the teachers and staff of the college, and the hard work they put in.
“Chloe’s achievements speak volumes about the school’s staff and their care for their students, their work ethic and professionalism and understanding of the curriculum and what needs to be done to allow for high-achieving students to be their best,” he said.
Mr Carver believes Chloe and her fellow Year 12 graduates have a bright future.
“We are immensely proud of all our Year 12 graduates,” he said.
“Both our academic and applied learners are well equipped to make a significant contribution to society.”
