The club handed over a cheque for $2105 to Navorina Nursing Home chairman Neville Purtill, which will contribute to the facility’s ongoing efforts to furnish renovated areas.
Hosted by the Deniliquin Bowling Club, manger Scott Bradley said more than 60 people attended the inaugural charity event on March 19.
It included a number of local emergency services personnel and nursing staff.
Now to be made an annual event, the day was designed to bring together emergency service and health care workers while supporting a local charity.
False alarm
Firefighters were called to what was initially reported as a structure fire in Deniliquin early Wednesday morning, and arrived to find something far less severe.
As a suspected house fire, firefighters from both Deniliquin Fire + Rescue NSW and Mid Murray Rural Fire Services were dispatched.
They were relieved to find only a hay bale behind the home alight.
Support Deni High
Deniliquin High School’s P&C and Canteen committees will host the traditional Easter cake stall and book stall in the Deniliquin CBD this weekend.
The group will take over the Cressy St Kiosk on Saturday from 8.30am.
You can expect to find an array of delicious treats donated by the school community for you to share with your friends and family over Easter.
There will also be second hand books, games and puzzles for sale.
Make sure to stop by and help the committees continue to support our young people.
Fundraising day in May
Save the date and get your own team ready for the Fleming Partners Community Fundraising Day this May.
The local business is raising money for Walk for Brain Cancer day at Deniliquin Rotary Park on Sunday, May 7.
Proceeds will support the Cure Brain Caner Foundation.
You can walk, run or even skip as many laps of the oval as you can in one hour.
It costs $25 per adult to register for the walk, with registrations taken at Fleming Partners office in Mulwala Plaza - off George St, Deniliquin - or on the day.
The day will coincide with soccer at Rotary Park, and there will be fun activities for the family.
Head to the Fleming Partners Facebook page or drop into the office to find out more.
Dig deep for RCH
If you have not done so already, please make sure you dig into your pocket and donate for the Deniliquin Royal Children’s Hospital Appeal.
There will be some tin rattlers around tomorrow, and more volunteers are welcome to head down to the Deniliquin RSL Club from 9am to lend a hand.
You can also contribute to Deni’s fundraising total by supporting the Good Friday raffle at the Deni RSL on Friday night.
Tickets can be purchased at the club, and there are 26 prizes up for grabs.
This is Fay Mills’ last year coordinating the local raffle and fundraising effort, and it would be fantastic if she could retire after 50 years with a Deni tally record.
You can also donate online, at https://fundraise.goodfridayappeal.com.au/fundraisers/Deniliquin.
