More than half a dozen CFA brigades were called to an unattended grass fire on a property on Tyacks Rd, Yalca, last night.
Crews received reports of the fire at about 7.40pm on Tuesday, November 5.
Brigades from Waaia, Yalca, Nathalia, Strathmerton, Yarroweyah, Cobram and Katunga attended the scene and quickly extinguished the one-hectare blaze.
Nobody was reported injured.
CFA District 22 Commander Rohan Taylor said it was a timely reminder for people who were conducting burn-offs to ensure they remained on scene.
“Check the weather conditions prior to lighting the fire and also ensure that you have adequate water supplies to extinguish the fire if it does escape,” he said.
The CFA would also like to remind property owners across Moira Shire that fire restrictions will be introduced from 1am on Monday, November 11.
Burn-offs can be registered online at firepermits.vic.gov.au or by contacting the Burn Notification Line on 1800 668 511.
