A new speed limit is taking effect at the High St and St Georges Rd intersection in Shepparton’s CBD.
Drivers near the intersection will need to slow down as the new 50km/h speed limit has now been introduced.
The speed limit has been reduced from 60km/h to 50km/h.
The News conctated Greater Shepparton City Council for additional information:
“St Georges Road in Shepparton has previously had a 60km/h speed limit with a time-based 40km/h school zone from Hayes Street to the north leg of St Andrews Road.” said a Council spokesperson.
“Following a detailed investigation of the traffic movements and consultation with the local community and VicRoads, approval was granted for the speed limit for this whole section of St Georges Road to be reduced to 50km/h.”
“This enables the creation of a permanent 40km/h zone fronting the shops and the school. The updated speed signs were installed last week and will bring improved safety for pedestrians and road users in the area.”
A new speed limit has also recently been implemented on Wanganui Rd and Rudd Rd - near GOTAFEs William Orr Campus.
The previous 80km/h zone is now a 60km/h limit on Wanganui Rd from Kittles Rd (heading west), while Rudd Rd is now 60km/h for its entirety.
