A person has died and another is in a critical condition after a single-vehicle crash on the Hume Fwy in Creightons Creek on Friday afternoon.
Police believe a vehicle travelling on the freeway near Avenel-Longwood Rd crashed into a tree just after 3pm on January 20.
The driver, a man in his 80s, is being airlifted to the Royal Melbourne Hospital in a critical condition with upper body injuries, an Ambulance Victoria spokesperson said.
The passenger died at the scene and the exact cause of the crash is yet to be determined.

The Hume Fwy is closed south-bound between Euroa and Longwood with emergency services on scene.
Motorists are advised to divert using Euroa-Shepparton Rd, Murchison-Violet Town Rd, and the Goulburn Valley Fwy.
