On Tuesday afternoon, the Victorian Electoral Commission website stated that 28 candidates had successfully nominated for this year’s election, with Rod Schubert (Midland) and Sam Spinks (Poplar) the only people to stand in their respective wards.
This means — pending final confirmation from VEC at tomorrow’s ballot draw that no submissions close to the noon deadline were still being processed — both will be elected unopposed and there is no need for a vote to occur in those wards.
See below for a full list of nominees in each ward ahead of Wednesday’s ballot draw.
Ballot packs will begin to be mailed out from Monday, October 7, while voting will close on Friday, October 25 at 6pm.
All postal votes must be received by noon on Friday, November 1 — and all election results are expected to be declared on Friday, November 15.
