CAGS students sleep rough for good cause

Cobram Anglican Grammar School Year 12 students slept rough on Thursday, June 15 as part of the school’s Winter Appeal to raise awareness of homelessness.

Martin Kong was one of the students who participated, spending the night on a cardboard box, and said the experience was eye-opening.

“Once you put yourself in the same position as those in need, you realise you have too much,” Martin said.

“I couldn’t sleep for more than 15 minutes at a time.”

As part of CAGS’s Winter Appeal, students and families also donate essential goods to St Margaret’s Church in Cobram, which then creates care packages as part of its outreach program.

Currently over 900 people in Moira Shire are seeking permanent housing.
