While the most likely cause is the lightning, the official causes are yet to be determined.
One grass fire in Deniliquin’s north is believed to have been sparked by a power pole on fire.
Deniliquin’s Fire + Rescue NSW responded to the blaze on Augustus St just before 7.30pm.
There were five firefighters on site, and they had the small grass fire under control in 15 minutes.
Multiple small grass fires also popped up in the rural areas under the jurisdiction of the NSW Rural Fire Service.
Alerts were issued on the Hazards Near Me app for Boonoke Rd at Conargo, Conargo Rd at Hartwood and Boorabula Rd at Wanganella.
