“I only need one word to describe it, awesome,” Koonoomoo’s Big Strawberry owner Darren Hayes said.
“It was our busiest ever.”
While Mr Hayes wasn’t sure whether it was due to more Victorians staying locally, but there was a large number of people on Easter Saturday and Sunday.
“I can’t be certain what it was, but there were a lot of people. And school holidays have been sensational, there are plenty of people around,” he said.
It was a similar story for supermarkets in Cobram, with Woolworths and Ritchies IGA busy.
“It’s fantastic for the town and fantastic for small businesses after the past 12 months people have had,” Ritchies IGA Cobram store manager Mandy Hawke said.
“We were expecting this year to be big, but it was a lot bigger than we expected – it was definitely an increase on past years.”
Cobram Woolworths store manager Sarah McVeigh said it was a bumper Easter in town.
“And trade in our store reflected this,” she said.
“We had a consistent stream of customers across the long weekend, particularly on Easter Saturday, making it a very busy time for our store team.
“We want to thank customers for their patience and support as our team worked to make everyone’s shop as pleasant and efficient as possible amid the extra demand.
“Last Easter was a really difficult one for the whole community, so we’re delighted to have so many visitors back in town this year supporting the local economy.”
